On Tuesday, June 28, all the elements for fun were in place as enthusiastic members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UCLA turned out to enjoy a free OLLI event at the Holmby Park Lawn Bowling Club. The beautiful weather, gracious hospitality and refreshments along with free lawn bowling lessons combined to make it a delightful afternoon to learn and socialize together.
Lawn bowling offers a wonderful way for adults of all ages to exercise at their own pace while enjoying the outdoors and the camaraderie of good friends and fellow enthusiasts. OLLI members were welcomed and received one-on-one instruction prior to testing their skills on the green. There was no pressure from the staff to compete but, after initial lessons and a pre-game briefing, some OLLI members joined the club members in the scheduled lawn bowling match. Tom Seres, President, extended an invitation to OLLI members to return again for more lawn bowling lessons and activities. Additional information can be found at http://www.losangeleslawnbowling.com/ including upcoming events and tournaments. The Holmby Park Lawn Bowling Club is located at 646 Comstock Avenue (just 1 mile east of UCLA). View the attached photos to see OLLI members in action at HPLBC.
